Culinary Packages

Day 01: COCHIN

Arrive Cochin airport you will be met and transferred to the hotel. Later go for a short sightseeing tour of Cochin; known as the “Queen of the Arabian Sea.”

Visit the Chinese Fishing Nets, St Francis Church, the first European church built in India and is the site where Vasco da Gama was buried. The Jewish Synagogue, The "Dutch Palace; that portrays mythological murals and a rare example of traditional Keralite flooring.

Evening visit to “Kayikkas” restaurant, where they serve ethnic cuisine like, mapila food; the restaurant recommended by Lonely Planet Food Special.


Today after breakfast proceed to Poothotta (01 hr) for a “Village Backwater Cruise with Lunch”

Canoeing through narrow canals in traditional rowing boats to watch the interior village life, coir making, toddy tapping etc and a lunch at a Syrian Christian house in the village, with cooking demo. They will serve few special cousins of Christians. (Option – can arrange “Margam Kali”- a traditional folk dance performed by Christian women depicting the advent of St. Thomas in Kerala.) Afternoon can be spent to visit a famous ethnic Nature restaurant based on Gastronomy. The person runs the same will give classes on preparations based on Gastronomy.

Evening time for showcasing quintessentially magnificent vignettes of Kerala’s rich cultural traditions, at Greenix Cultural Centre; an exclusive, professionally choreographed repertoire of live classical dance and music, heritage theatre, legendary ritualistic folk invocations and martial arts. Overnight at the hotel.


Early morning proceed to Guruvayoor (02 hrs) the most important pilgrimage centers of South India and the site for weddings and Annaprasanam, the first feeding ceremony of a child. This is probably the only site for several weddings and ‘Annaprasanam’ that can be seen. (Depends upon the dates & we will make arrangements for their participation in wedding ceremony and feast).

Visit to the Elephant camp known as Punathoorkotta the largest elephant yard (Park gives different meaning) in the world with over 60 elephants. Later return to Kodungallore located on the delta of Periyar River, where they can see the oldest Mosque, Cheraman Juma Masjid believed to be built in 647 AD; the first in India and the second in the world where Juma prayers originated. Then proceed to Chendamangalam and visit the Synagogue (Or Mala Synagogue) built in 8th century. Overnight at Kochi through Palliport (The first European fort in India,) (Can spend the evening at Cherai)

(Overnight stay at Guruyayoor /Cheruthuruthy –Optional; to watch Janmashtami)

{Janmashtami - The Highlight is the Krishnattam Kali taking place outside the temple in the open auditorium of Guruvayur - This is the only day when this special art form is performed outside the temple premises where Non-Hindus can also enjoy this, which is a very beautiful art form. This is being performed only inside four-walls of the Guruvayoor temple. It takes place in the night.}
Guruvayoor to Munnar – 4 ½ hrs drive

Day 04 – Chinnar-Anamalai (70kms)

Early morning visit to Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. Hiking through the sanctuary. As you go after this nature trail you are bound to come across a plethora of bird and animal life that fascinate you completely.

Later proceed to Anamalai through Tamil Nadu Villages. Here you will be touched the main land again but in the eastern side of the Ghats. On the way you can see an entirely different way of village life from Kerala. The vast expanse of hundreds of crops, sacred groves, termite mount temples and if in season, can participate in a village festival like fire walk, Jelly Kettu (Bullfight) etc.

Overnight stay in a village farm forest hosted by a Landlord of the area.


Early morning after breakfast proceed to Munnar (4 hrs) known as nature lover’s paradise. Enroute visit Kodanadu Elephant orphanage – a training center in a peaceful spot among forest-like environs; interested tourists could also get an elephant-ride at the Kodanad center (optional).

Enroute lunch from a Bhramin’s House. Where they will be treated like guests and provide traditional Kerala Hindu Lunch. The “Andarjanam” (Mistress) will give some good lessons of Kerala Veg. Cooking. Later proceed to Munnar visit Kurupumpady Cathedral (an ancient Syrian Church with mural paintings) and few waterfalls on the way.Overnight at Munnar.

Day 05: MUNNAR

Early morning after breakfast proceed to Eravikulam National park (the home of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr) for soft hiking to enjoy the landscape of high altitudes of Western Ghats and to spot animals and birds. Lunch at the resort.

Afternoon soft hiking / cycling through the panoramic tea plantations. Visit to tea museum at Munnar to showcase and highlights some of the fine and fascinating aspects on the evolution and growth of tea plantations in this part of Kerala. Overnight at Munnar.


Today proceed to Chinnar (02 hrs) wildlife sanctuary a well-known reserve that extends over an area of over 90 sq km. Enjoy the wildlife, sandal wood forest and ancient cave paintings in Chinnar. Overnight at Chandana Ayurvedic Residency.

Go for a soft hiking through the Sandal wood forest. After noon hike to a waterfall in the wildlife zone (optional) or hike through the village to see the village activities and a rock cut temple/ Buddhist church. (If some one dare enough can camp inside wildlife zone of Chinnar wildlife sanctuary on tree house,) We can arrange a campfire and tribal dance.


Early morning ride through the sanctuary to spot wildlife. Apart from being the habitat of the endangered giant grizzled squirrel in India, the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is home to tigers, elephant, Hanuman Languor, bonnet macaques, gaur, , spotted deer, sambar deer, turtles and about 250 species birds. After ride, proceeds hiking with packed breakfast (3hrs.)

Later proceed to Thekkady (5-6 hrs) the famous wildlife destinations of Kerala. Enroute lunch at Munnar. Overnight at Thekkady

(Option for Jeep Safari from Chinnar to Munnar {3-½ hrs} through Mannavanchola National Park (Biggest high altitude cloud forest in Asia)


Today full day at disposal to explore the wild life at Thekkady; one of India's most fascinating natural wildlife sanctuaries, where you can watch wildlife at close range; the vegetation, the flora and fauna and the birds of Thekkady are uniquely rich, vast and varied that it does not bear resemblance to any other wildlife sanctuaries in the world.

Enjoy a boat cruise through the Periyar Lake; spend time for shopping, Massage, cooking class, hiking etc.

Morning proceed to Manimala (2 ½ hrs) for lunch and cooking class at a village house on the banks of Manimala River. The hostess is an expert cook on Central Travancore cuisine. After lunch proceed to Kumarakom (2 hrs) for overnight stay. (Can visit an ancient Canaanite church with medieval mural paintings.)

Manimala got its name after Manimalayar, which is one of the major rivers of Kerala, about 92km in length, originating from Western Ghats.


After break fast check in to the houseboat for a lunch cruise to Alleppy. Experience the ethnic Kuttanadan cooking style on the Houseboat. Overnight at Alleppey.

What is truly magical about a houseboat ride is the breathtaking view of the untouched and otherwise inaccessible rural Kerala that it offers. The houseboats have all the creature comforts of a good hotel including furnished bedrooms, modern toilets, cozy living rooms, a kitchen and even a balcony for angling. Meals would be cooked on board and supplemented with fresh fish from the backwaters. Today, the tradition is still continued and the food from the local cuisine is served by the Kuttanad localities, on board!

Morning, after breakfast, proceed to Kovalam (4 hrs), the world-renowned beach destination. Enjoy the blue waters of Kovalam beach. Overnight at the resort.

Enroute visit few temples of South Kerala.
In Kerala non-Hindus are not allowed to enter inside, but can see it from out side. Enroute from Alleppey to Kovalam we can have a visit to Mannarasala Sacred Grove with snake worship, or visit to Aranmula Temple and craftsmen village; where they makes “Aranmula Mirror” a unique mirror made by composing different metals. (Enroute Lunch – place to be decided later)

Day 12: TRIVANDRUM (Capital City of Kerala)

Local visits in Trivandrum. Go for a visit in “Fisher Man’s Village”., Visit to Napier History museum in museum , Lunch at Italian Restaurant ( run by an European Lady and an Indian Yoga Master. Their cuisines have a unique combination of Indian and European style) in Trivandrum. Afternoon visit to Sri Padmanabha Swami Temple, built by Travancore Dynasty, Visit to historical museum (Kuthira Malika- Horse’s Castle)
